Acer re-entering the U.S. server market

Acer has released a line of servers and storage products for the U.S market. With the aim of reinvesting in the market, the fourth top PC-maker in the states will now manufacture server products using third party makers. Acer earlier had a strong hold in the server market which had diminished in recent years. Now, the re-launch aims to increase the support and service capabilities Acer has with a better supply of services.

Acer has re-entered the market with network attached storage products,a tower rack, blade system, and specific cloud computing devices. To be sold through channel partners, these systems will range from $721 for a tower to $10,499 for storage.To add-on, Acer will be providing ‘option kits’ which are additional memory, hard drives and other components.

Qualcomm announces next generation of Snapdragon chipsets

Qualcomm has announced their next generation Snapdragon Chipsets codenamed Krait. It comes in single, dual and quad-core versions.

They will include the latest Adreno GPUs integrated with an LTE modem. There are also the connectivity solutions like WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and FM. The chipsets also support near field communication as well as stereoscopic 3D video and photo capture and playback. The MSM8960 is the world’s first dual-core solution with an integrated multi- mode 3G/LTE modem. It will also support dual-channel LP DDR memory and will feature the Adreno 225 GPU.

The APQ8064 will include four asynchronous CPU cores and will include support for both PC and LP DDR memory, serial and PCIe interfaces, and multiple USB ports. Sony debuts Music Unlimited in US

Sony announced debut of  the music streaming device,Music Unlimited in U.S, Australia and New Zealand. The service is available on Sony devices like PlayStation 3, Blu- ray Disc player,personal computers and Bravia televisions. The service will also be offered on Android smart phones using an iOs app to be released soon.

Sony Music Entertainment together with partners Universal Music Group, EMI Music and Warner Music Group Corp plays the lead role in Music Unlimited and offers a song base of over six million. Music Unlimited was earlier available in countries like U.K,Italy and Germany, to name a few.

Music Unlimited will have its basic membership providing an interactive radio experience for $3.99 per month and a premium service for $9.99 per month. Nokia connects with Microsoft

Nokia and Microsoft have announced plans to form a broad strategic partnership that would use their complementary expertise to create a new global mobile for. They would join forces to work together to integrate key assets and create completely new service offerings, while extending established products and services to new markets.

There is much more on the palette for the consumers with the announcement. The extensive operator billing agreements would make it easier for consumers to purchase Nokia windows phone services in countries where credit- card use is low.
